La Alcaidesa sits at the southern edge of Sotogrande, where the municipality of San Roque meets the Gibraltar border. The area spreads across low hills between the coast and the links golf course, with the beach at Playa de La Alcaidesa 1.9 kilometres south and Gibraltar Airport ten kilometres away. San Roque town centre is 6.6 kilometres to the north, about ten minutes by car, and the marina at Puerto de Sotogrande is 6.7 kilometres, roughly 18 minutes by car.

The new-build stock consists almost entirely of apartments and penthouses, sold off-plan before completion. Schemes range from two to four bedrooms, and many have sea views across the Strait of Gibraltar towards Morocco. Some are frontline golf, looking out over the fairways at La Hacienda Links Golf Resort, which is 1.2 kilometres away and about eight minutes by car. Other schemes sit close to the beach, within a short drive of the sand.

La Alcaidesa draws buyers who want the golf and the views but prefer a quieter setting than central Sotogrande. The roads are residential, the building density is low, and the area feels more suburban than resort-focused. A supermarket is 5.4 kilometres away, about nine minutes by car, and the health centre in San Roque is 6.1 kilometres, roughly nine minutes. Sotogrande International School's San Roque campus is about eight minutes by car.

The setting suits buyers who want a home near the links and the beach without the higher density or the marina-side prices of Sotogrande proper. The proximity to Gibraltar Airport makes the area accessible for frequent flyers, and the border crossing is straightforward most of the time. The coast road runs through the area, connecting La Alcaidesa to both the Sotogrande marina and the town of San Roque, so access to shops, restaurants and services in either direction is direct.
