Gated community Properties for Sale in Nerja

Nerja occupies a dramatic stretch of coastline roughly 50 kilometres east of Málaga. The Sierra de Almijara rises steeply behind the town, creating a backdrop that shapes the climate and the character of the area. The famous Balcón de Europa, a clifftop promenade, anchors the old town and divides the coast into a series of small coves and beaches. Playa El Salón lies just below the centre, while quieter stretches like Burriana beach sit a short walk to the east. Property for sale in Nerja includes whitewashed village houses in the narrow streets of the old quarter, modern apartments along the beachfront, and villas scattered across the hillside urbanisations. Many homes on elevated plots offer open views over the sea or the mountains. The town has grown outward from its historic core, and developments such as Capistrano Village and Punta Lara provide a range of options from townhouses to apartment complexes with shared pools. Nerja real estate appeals to buyers looking for a slower pace than Marbella or Fuengirola, but with better infrastructure than some of the smaller coastal villages. The town has year-round residents, a weekly market, supermarkets, medical centres, and a selection of international schools within reach. The N340 coast road connects Nerja to Málaga airport in under an hour, and the coastal towns of Torrox and Almuñécar lie within a short drive. The area suits retirees, remote workers, and families who want access to beaches and outdoor activities without the density of the western Costa del Sol. The mountains behind Nerja are popular with hikers, and the Nerja Caves, a vast underground system, draw visitors throughout the year. The town retains a distinctly Spanish feel, with a mix of local residents and long-term foreign buyers, most of whom seek a quieter alternative to the busier resorts while staying within easy reach of Málaga.
