New Developments in Higueron, Fuengirola
Higuerón sits on the western edge of Fuengirola, between the coast and the AP-7 motorway. The area is known for its hillside position, with many apartments offering sea views across to the Mediterranean.
Higuerón occupies rising ground west of Fuengirola town centre, with the beach at Playa de Torreblanca about a kilometre away and Málaga Airport 14 kilometres along the coast. The area sits inland of the AP-7 motorway, which runs between it and the shore, and the setting is defined by modern low-rise apartment blocks built into the slope. Many homes take advantage of the elevation to capture views over the rooftops toward the sea.
The neighbourhood developed around the Higuerón resort complex, and the street pattern reflects that origin: wide roads curve up the hillside, with buildings set back behind landscaped gardens rather than lining the pavement. Supermarkets are about five minutes by car, and Fuengirola's main shopping streets and marina are around 12 minutes away. The British College is about ten minutes by car, and the nearest hospital is Hospital Vithas Xanit International, 11 minutes inland.
New development apartments in Higuerón range from one to three bedrooms, and the stock is almost entirely off-plan, sold before completion. Some sit close to the beach, though the motorway runs between the neighbourhood and the shore, and the majority are built on the slope above it. The area attracts buyers looking for modern apartments with outdoor space and sea views within a short drive of Fuengirola and the airport, and the hillside setting means most developments are designed around communal pools and terraces that make use of the aspect.
The built density is lower than in Fuengirola town centre, where buildings sit closer together and older blocks mix with new construction. Higuerón feels more spread out, with apartment complexes separated by green space and wider roads. Golf Benalmadena Pitch & Putt is about ten minutes by car, and the main golf courses around Mijas are within a 20-minute drive inland. The area's position on the western edge of Fuengirola means it sits between the town's amenities and the quieter stretch of coast that leads toward Benalmádena, and buyers tend to choose it for that balance rather than for being in the centre of either.
