Explore the Punta Lara area guide.
Punta Lara is a residential area in Nerja, a coastal town on the eastern edge of the Costa del Sol. Set within one of Andalusia's most scenic stretches of coastline, the area takes its name from a headland area known for its elevated position and views over the Mediterranean.
Nerja itself sits between sheltered coves and the dramatic backdrop of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama, offering a setting that blends beachside ease with mountain scenery. Living in Nerja means access to a quieter side of the Costa del Sol. The town centre retains a village feel, with tapas bars, local markets and whitewashed streets leading down to sandy beaches and rocky inlets. The famous Balcón de Europa promenade draws visitors and residents alike, while the surrounding area offers hiking trails, seasonal water sports and several golf courses within a short drive. Málaga airport lies under an hour away, connecting the coast to the rest of Europe. The climate is mild year-round, and the town avoids the density of larger resorts further west. Punta Lara tends to appeal to those seeking a permanent or long-stay home in a recognisable Spanish town rather than a high-rise resort. It suits buyers who value proximity to the sea, reliable sunshine and a slower pace without sacrificing convenience.
