Townhouses for Sale in Maro

Maro sits within the Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo natural park, a stretch of coastline where dramatic cliffs meet crystal-clear water. The village itself is tiny, with a handful of restaurants, a church, and no commercial sprawl. Most residents come here for the peace, the walking trails, and direct access to beaches like Cala del Cañuelo, which can only be reached on foot or by boat. The setting is rural and undeveloped, yet Nerja town centre is less than ten minutes by car. Property for sale in Maro tends toward detached villas, cortijos, and country-style homes on generous plots. Many properties occupy elevated positions with sea views or garden space bordered by olive and almond trees. New construction is tightly controlled due to the natural park designation, so the housing stock skews older and individual in character. You will also find a small number of townhouses and apartments closer to the village core, though the area is dominated by single-family homes. The lifestyle here revolves around nature, quiet, and a degree of self-sufficiency. There are no supermarkets or nightlife in Maro itself. Buyers are typically families seeking space and privacy, retirees who value tranquillity over convenience, or second-home owners looking for a retreat. The village attracts people who want to be near Nerja without being in the middle of it. Maro suits buyers comfortable with a car-dependent routine and a slower pace. If you want a large garden, uninterrupted views, and a village where you know your neighbours, this is one of the few remaining pockets on the eastern Costa del Sol where that combination still exists. The trade-off is limited on-site amenities and a housing market with fewer turnovers than busier coastal towns.
