Penthouses for Sale in Istán

This quiet corner of the Costa del Sol attracts buyers seeking space, light and proximity to the Istán reservoir and walking routes, without the coastal apartment density found further south.

Istán sits inland, roughly fifteen minutes by car from the golf estates near Marbella and twenty-five from Puerto Banús. The village itself retains a residential, Andalusian character, and penthouse developments here are typically low-rise, often just three or four storeys, tucked into hillside plots or positioned along the roads that follow the contours above the reservoir. Roof terraces on penthouses here usually face the forested slopes or open toward the lake and distant sierra rather than the sea, and many include outdoor kitchens or covered pergolas built to make the most of cooler evenings and mountain breezes. Buyers who choose penthouses in Istán tend to value peace and natural surroundings more than immediate beach access. The village offers supermarkets, local restaurants and a health centre, and the Real Club de Golf Las Brisas is less than ten minutes away. Málaga airport lies about sixty kilometres east, and the drive passes through Marbella, where larger shops, international schools and private clinics such as Hospital Recoletas Salud Marbella are located. Penthouses here often suit retirees, remote workers or second-home owners who want quiet weekends without being fully isolated from coastal amenities. The layout of a penthouse in Istán may include two or three bedrooms, open-plan living areas that extend onto the terrace, and sometimes a storage room at roof level. Community pools and gardens are common, and parking is usually assigned rather than optional. Because the village is cooler than the coast, especially at night, double glazing and shutters are standard, and some penthouses include wood-burning stoves or fireplace inserts for use during the short Andalusian winter. Buyers should confirm that the terrace or solarium is registered in the title deed and check whether any enclosures or pergolas were added with the required community consent. Living in a penthouse in Istán means trading beachfront convenience for space, affordability and a slower pace. The village is not a walking town in the urban sense, and most residents use a car for anything beyond the immediate centre. The altitude and greenery make it a natural fit for hikers, cyclists and anyone who prefers mountain trails to promenades, and the relatively small size of most developments means neighbours tend to know one another. For buyers who want coastal access without coastal crowds, a penthouse here offers a practical middle ground, especially if Marbella or the marina at Puerto Deportivo Virgen del Carmen are part of the weekly routine.
