Explore the Cártama area guide.
Cártama offers apartments that blend the convenience of modern living with access to the authentic Andalusian countryside, lying just inland from the coast yet close to Málaga city and the airport.
Apartments in Cártama tend to suit buyers looking for value and practicality without sacrificing lifestyle. The town itself sprawls across hillsides and plains, with clusters of low-rise apartment blocks in the main nucleus and smaller developments dotting the outlying areas near Estación de Cártama and the approach roads to Lauro Golf. Many apartment buildings here are relatively recent, featuring private parking, communal pools, and terraces with views over olive groves or towards the Sierra de las Nieves. Buyers drawn to Cártama apartments often appreciate the slower pace and lower density compared to coastal towns, while still being within twenty minutes of Málaga airport and half an hour from the beach. The town supports day-to-day life with local schools, health centres including Policlínica Lacibis Cártama, supermarkets, and a traditional market. Apartments near the historic upper town, Cártama Pueblo, place you within walking distance of whitewashed streets and local tapas bars, while those closer to the station benefit from direct rail links to Málaga and Fuengirola. Choosing an apartment over a villa or townhouse in Cártama usually means less maintenance, shared upkeep of gardens and pools, and a more straightforward setup for buyers who spend part of the year elsewhere or prefer not to manage extensive outdoor space. Ground-floor units with private garden patches and penthouses with wrap-around terraces are common, bridging the gap between apartment convenience and a sense of outdoor living. The profile of apartment stock varies. Some developments cater to young families and first-time buyers with two and three-bedroom layouts, while others attract retirees and remote workers seeking quiet surroundings and good transport links. Proximity to Lauro Golf appeals to those who play regularly but want apartment living rather than a villa on the course. The mix of old and new means you can find everything from compact resale units in older blocks to spacious new-build apartments with open-plan designs and energy-efficient fittings.

Two and three-bedroom layouts dominate, often with open-plan living and kitchen areas, one or two bathrooms, and a terrace or balcony. Ground-floor apartments sometimes include a small private patio, while top-floor units may offer larger terraces with countryside or mountain views. Parking spaces and storage rooms are frequently included in the price.
Owners pay monthly or quarterly fees to cover shared costs such as pool cleaning, garden maintenance, building repairs, and sometimes water and insurance. Fees vary depending on the development's size, age, and facilities. You should review the community statutes and recent spending history before committing to purchase.
You sign a private purchase contract and pay a deposit, usually ten percent, which binds both parties. Your lawyer conducts searches on the property title, community debts, and urban planning status. After around four to eight weeks, you complete the sale at the notary, pay the balance, and receive the deeds. The notary registers the transfer with the Land Registry on your behalf.
